Alocasias
My grandmum used to have so many begonia types indoors, in my village. When I was a kid, I remember them placed in high stands in front of all the windows facing the garden. In my memory, I relate them with beautiful, green hairy leaves with a red crimson color touch, and with no special recollection of the flowers.
Begonia family is huge. It includes about 1000 species, most of them native from America. A lot of them are common indoors houseplants that you can find in every plants-lover home. Most of them require similar care… but let’s deep into the ones I have experienced on first hand!
Alocasia "Polly"
Alocasia amazonica "Polly"
Technically, this was the first plant in my collection, and this plant has been in my family for three generations! It was the only Begonia from my grandmum’s house that survived enough (without care!!) so I could rescue her when I returned from living abroad. I have so much experience with this one, and there’s not much detailed information online, since it´s not one of the most common Begonias. But I have opened this diary so everybody can learn from my experience!
